A Short Week

The good news about this week (even though it's Monday already!) is that it will be a short week for me. :) I am taking a half day off on Thursday and a full day off Friday plus we have next Monday off for Memorial Day. So I will have a nice long weekend to relax and enjoy! We leave on Thursday night to head to Pennyslvania for the weekend to meet up with my parents and visit with our family up there and show Austin around where I used to spend my summers growing up. I can't wait! Yummy food, good weather, it should be fun!

Our weekend was good I guess although very hot and very short! The Mavs finally lost the series on Friday, so that was sad but now we have more time to watch other quality television! LOL! We went to see Star Wars on Saturday after my dentist adventure (I survived) which was good. Yesterday was mostly about running errands and getting a manicure and pedicure (gotta pamper myself after Saturday's gum torture). :)

I must say the worst part of the weekend by far though was the weather. It went from being unusually cool around here to being unusually hot. It was 99 degrees Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The rest of the week until Thursday or Friday is supposed to be in the mid 90s and then cool off a bit to the 80s for the weekend. I hope it is like that after we get back too! Needless to say, it was horrible to be outside. And since this heat wave came on suddenly, our air conditioner did not enjoy it and decided to be tempermental. We suffered through the entire weekend with our apartment over 80 degrees (when our thermostat was set at 70). Saturday night, we finally broke down and went to Walmart and got on of those big fans that turns from side to side to help make it bearable, and if it weren't for that, we probably wouldn't have survived yesterday or sleeping Saturday or Sunday night. The poor pets have fur coats to deal with - I feel bad for them! :)

The apartment people came yesterday to try to fix it and put some coolant in but that didn't help much so they were supposed to come back again today and try to fix it. I'm hoping they will give in and replace it! I'm sure our electric bill for this month is going to be horrendous!!! But at least the gas bill is cheap now that there is no heat on and we are only heating up our water with it so that helps even things out! :) Let's just hope things are nice and cool when I go in there today after work because otherwise we'll have to board Mikah (the cat) also this weekend when we go out of town for fear of him having heat stroke in our apartment!
