I'm Back!!!

I know you all missed me - haha!

I'm back from my vacation. It actually turned out a lot better than I thought it would, and we got really lucky avoiding the majority of the rain and craziness from Hurricane Emily. We left Saturday morning (not as early as planned but early nonetheless), grabbed my Harry Potter book at Walmart, and headed down the road. We made decent time and arrived Saturday afternoon to the rental house. It was really nice, nicer than any of the others we've stayed at there. We settled in and headed for some yummy dinner on the water. Saturday night we were all pretty tired so we ended up going to sleep relatively early. The ride down was long and boring but sadly I can't read in the car because it gives me a headache or motion sickness so I didn't get to read any Harry Potter.

Sunday we got up and did a little shopping although I still wasn't able to find the sandals I wanted. I will have to order them online. We found some for Austin though at least so now we only have to find some for me. Then we headed to the beach. There was a quick rain shower but it subsided and we were able to enjoy the afternoon at the beach. Sunday night, Austin's parents went to the fish market and got all kinds of yummy shrimp and fish and we cooked out at the house.

Monday morning we got up super early and went fishing. We caught the limit in red fish and then tried to get some trout but mostly caught small ones and released them back into the water. It was fun though, even though we couldn't keep all the fish we caught! We have some good fish in the freezer now for later. We went to lunch after fishing, took a nap, and then went out to a yummy dinner again. I love seafood so it's great to be somewhere with fresh fish and shrimp and all that. There are a few good seafood restaurants in Dallas, but the best ones are super expensive and not an everyday place to go.

Tuesday, I rode along and drove the golf cart while Austin and his family played golf. I don't play golf. I actually find it quite boring, but it was alright because the weather was nice and I just relaxed and watched and drove the golf cart around which was fun! We went out to the beach when we got back because the surf was starting to churn up from the hurricane. The water was coming back further, and it was getting windy. I headed back to the house with Austin's parents, but Austin and his brother and Joey stayed out there and ended up getting drenched because a band of the hurricane hit. They were okay, just a lot of wind and rain. It ended up stopping, we went to dinner, and came home again and relaxed. I was sad because I didn't really read much at all the whole time we were there, but I had a blast so I guess I can always read at home! :)

Weirdly enough, we got up yesterday morning and it wasn't even raining. It was really windy and when we walked down to the beach area, the water had come up onto the beach access road and up to the sand dunes. I've never seen it that far in, but luckily it hadn't started flooding the island or anything. We grabbed some breakfast, packed everything up, and headed home. The drive was long again, especially because we hit a lot of rain and traffic on our way up, but we made it back to the area, picked up the dog from the pet hotel, and got home around 7.

This morning I got up with Austin at 5:15 am so I could shower and get gas in my car and head into work early because I need to leave by 3:30 today for an appointment. Fun stuff! At least tomorrow is Friday, and I can spend this weekend doing laundry and relaxing. I wish my synopsis of the weekend didn't sound quite so boring, but really we had a great time, didn't want to leave, and I was really glad to be able to relax and enjoy doing much of nothing for a few days. I was so glad the weather didn't ruin our plans either! Hope that you all had a good week while I was gone, and I'll try to catch up throughout today on everything! :)
